SOLIHULL STATION
Solihull Station is to be redeveloped to deliver a ‘world-class’ new Integrated Transport Hub. (indicative imagery.)
With the existing 1938-built station forecast growth in passenger numbers by 2036 – two million to three million passengers – the station will need to be brought up to modern standards.
The project will be set around an enlarged public concourse, with upgraded facilities, an indoor garden, retail and food outlets, and improved access to platforms with a newly widened underpass and enlarged lifts.
Further boosting the station’s sustainability credentials, numerous features are included, such as on-site energy generation, electric vehicle charging, biodiverse planting, and energy-efficient systems.
All of this will be complemented by a new pedestrian-focused public square, with a cycle hub and new transport routes.
Subject to scheme development and funding, construction of the new station could start in 2026.
